Manga2Anime

What it is. A network that extracts lineart from manga and illustration, trained against artists’ lineart: its output is thin black-and-white lines with no grey levels. The ComfyUI node is Manga2Anime_LineArt_Preprocessor, with weights erika.pth.

What it produces. Thin single-pixel lines; the eye as an outline, with one line each for the upper lid and the iris; strands of hair separated one by one; one line per layer of a skirt fold or a frill; and no hallucination outside the subject. It also draws things the source has no black line for – faint highlight bands, soft transitions between colours – and arbitration scores those against the source and removes them.

Why it is used. It gets all four of how to choose right. More than seven in ten of the lines that survive arbitration come from it, and the rest are contours.

Where it breaks. It draws a highlight band in the hair as a line (the finished painting suppresses some of those by line weight); the dark mass inside the eye is not a line, yet it draws a ring around it; and the lower lashes are one or two pixels at original size, which it cannot catch.
